We checked out Rex Navarette at SDSU last night. He was pretty funny. Kinda the same old jokes but he had some new ones. I don't what makes him funny... I guess just being inside on the inside jokes. There were older Filipinos there too. They thought he was hilarious which was strange because most of my older relatives were either offended by him or thought he wasn't that funny.

Xab and I were feeling kinda weird being surrounded by our "culture." I think I understand now why Xab would like to deny that he's Filipino or has any culture at all. For example, we stood for the american national anthem and Xab isn't the typical 2003 American "patriot" but he sat down half way through the song. Whoever was singing the song was singing it to show off instead of paying respect whatever you're suppose to pay respect to (sometimes this whole standing up for the flag thing seems like a religion) and guys in the audience started whooping at her. I dunno. We're good at pageantry. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. The first two opening artists sounded like cover bands. Actually I think they were cover bands, which was also annoying it makes me think that we don't have anything original. But BAMBU came on stage and he rocked. He rapped about the environment, war, society. It was kind of scary when a lot of people responded with "huh?" I hope we're really not that ignorant. But BAMBU was cool. After the first two cover bands, it was good to hear something fresh and real.

This week was my week to lead the mentoring session. I was freaking out but I think it all went well. I even got my mentee to start talking. She usually doesn't talk and sometimes I want to kick her into talking but when she saw me up in front of everyone she started raising her hand and comenting.

I wasn't up there all by myself. I had a partner but she was a slacker. She didn't really understand what was going on and everyone kept telling me to talk louder but I already felt like I was screaming. Really need to work on my public speaking skills. How am I suppose to take over the world?

I'm starting to hate this rainy weather. I threw up this morning because of the coldness but I guess that's a good thing. It felt like there was some kind of virus or bug in my stomach so it's better I got rid of it before it really got to me. I don't even know if that's true. I don't know anything about anatomy. hehe..

I went to the local Asian grocery store (which really isn't that local) with a friend. I feel really unhealthy and out of shape. I seriously need to get this food thing together. Everytime I go home no one has any time to show me how to prepare stuff... :( Sometimes it's embarassing that I have to have my friends tell me how to do the most simple stuff... but that's what friends are for... to help you out, even through stupid, simple stuff. I bought oranges and strawberries. I love strawberries. Yum yum yum.

Xab and I are thinking about upgrading my account to pro since Blogger was recently purchased by Google. They might start jacking up prices and I think the price is too much for whatever the offer, but maybe they'll fix my archives. And Xab is starting up on blogging again. He's been more interested since he got an old laptop.

I need a job. Hopefully they offer me a job at the daycare again. I couldn't take it last time because it conflicted with a class I need to take but this time, I can drop whatever and take the job (except for statistics). I'm really not after the money which is why I don't want a clerk or cash register job. I need the experience (and money would be nice) but yeah. I'm almost close to saying I'd work for free, but I've been living on such a minimal, torturous budget this quarter.
